Hiking

Chris and I went hiking in the Palisades Interstate Park, which is a large area that ranges from Fort Lee all the way up to the state of NY.  We are new to hiking so we picked a moderate trail (easy was for kids).  Saturday's weather was perfect...not too hot and there was a nice breeze.  Also, the trail that we picked was very shady.  The scenery was nice except for the murky muddy waters of the Hudson River.

I bought wasabi peas, trail mix, Cliff bars, and dried fruit from Trader Joe's and packed frozen bottles of water.  The trail was maybe 4-5 miles and took us 3  hours to hike  because we kept stopping to eat the wasabi peas lol.

Here is the start of our trail!
View of the Bronx

Chris enjoying the scenery lol.  I made him wear my backpack hahha.
The last half mile was just a rocky road of pain lol.

After hike feast

Left over pizza from Friday night.  Brooklyn's brick oven pizza is always good!

Rib eye that Chris cooked...notice the red
Red leaf lettuce and peppers
Korean BBQ!

I had a great time hiking! We were pretty noob and didn't bring bug spray (because Chris said he would...and he forgot to bring it) and I got the biggest bug bite on the back of my leg.  :(

We might go again next week!

Mitsuwa Summer Festival

Not much happened last weekend. I took the summer intern to the mall and BonChon.  On Saturday, I went to Mitsuwa's summer festival with my friends and we drove down to East Brunswick to eat at Makkoli sushi buffet.for my friend's going away party.

We ordered half spicy and half soy garlic wings.  I love KFC :)
Behind Mitsuwa. It was super crowded! I had to park at my work and walk over to Mitsuwa.
Bought ViVi for 3 dollars! Normally the magazine is around 10?
We decided to eat in the food court because the festival food was pricey.
I ordered the usual monthly special.  Chicken katsu for 6.50!

Green tea latte for 3.00.  It tasted way too milky.

My friend got squid balls.
8 dollars each for a mask.
I Decorated balloons filled with water.
We bought our friend this good luck cat.  Green is for good academics since he's attending grad school in Taiwan.
My friend picked out a pencil and a notebook for him to use LOL.

I forgot to take pictures of the food from Makkoli but it wasn't anything special.  The selection was limited but the sushi was decent.  I just ate sushi and salmon sashimi.  After dinner, we went over my friend's house to drink beer lol.  I stole the idea off of my friend's facebook to make  beer floats...Sam Adams beer (we used hazelnut) and vanilla ice cream. It was tasty and I recommend it to any non-beer drinker! Anyway, I was nice seeing him off.  I hope he visits me on Thursday! He's a big foodie just like me :)

Ughhh. I spent so much this weekend.  I made a note myself not to eat out for lunch or go out to eat so much.  This weekend, Chris and I plan on going hiking near my house ( cause it's free!) .  I'm crossing my fingers for good weather!

Dog sitting again

My sister's friend went to the Bahamas (stayed at Atlantis where I visited!) with her mom and asked me if I could watch Wink for her for five days.

Hahaha, he basically slept all day in his crate.  I kinda felt bad for him too. He missed his owner and he was probably bored and scared of my cats (they didn't bother him ...liked him more than they liked Buddha!)
Frogging like Pazuzu
I was able to take him to work :)
HAHHA. So instead of bringing his crate, I brought him in his stroller! Since he has only eye he has trouble walking so his owner bought a stroller off of ebay or craigslist.

My supervisors bring Buddha to work since they're refurnishing their basement.

Buddha was SUPER jealous of Wink.

Wink climbed up the chair to get away from Buddha.

After a few hours, Wink started to like Buddha.

So Wink followed my supervisors everywhere! Buddha couldn't take it and had to be in his business lol.  Whenever someone went to go pet Wink, Buddha would knock Wink over so he could be petted instead.  Buddha was a huge bully lol.

Wink's owner bought me a cake from a Korean bakery. Isn't the cake so pretty?

She got me a black cat statue from the Bahamas. He looks like Pazuzu!

Pazuzu loved to watch Wink sleep in his crate. What a creeper!

3 Years

It was our 3 year anniversary on August 4th! Time flies when you're having fun haha.  So I took Friday off and Chris came over in the afternoon.  We were finally able to eat at Sushi Cruise for lunch considering they only offer their lunch special on the weekdays.  We ordered a good amount and it only came out to like 10 dollars per person.

On Saturday, the 4th, we woke up early to head out to Brooklyn.  Yikes, we got lost because the J train didn't stop at one train stop...good thing we left so early because we were able to get a seat before it got busy..

It was SO HOT AND HUMID.  We were both hot, hungry, and angry (Chris said hohangry) from jumping from train to train trying to get to Brooklyn.  This pretty hipster girl told us how to get to Brooklyn (when in doubt, ask a hipster :D)  Chris and I aren't big wine drinkers so we always order soda when we go out to a fancy restaurant hahaa.

Chris's drink

Their special steak sauce. It tasted like cocktail sauce maybe a little bit sweeter. It went well with the steak.
Their delicious bread.  Chris asked the waiter to pack it for us hahaha.

German potatoes

Creamed spinach! Probably the best creamed spinach I ever had...
Medium rare.

Our porterhouse steak! They cut and serve it to you immediately. Wish I was able to get a picture of it whole.
The meal was so freaking good. The steak was worth the arduous journey Brooklyn.  The steak was so tender and soft.  Haha, I was only able to eat four-five pieces and the side dishes before wanting to vomit.  There was a couple who sat next to us who ordered an appetizer, two side dishes, and steak for each and they finished everything! We plan on coming here again :)
After our heavy lunch, I couldn't walk back to the train stop and had to wait and digest in McDonald's.  Chris ordered a smoothie and we sat there for a good half hour lol.

We wanted to go to the MET but the guard didn't let us in cause we had left overs. Lol. The left overs were worth more than the MET tickets. So, we walked through Central Park but had to cut it short because I was getting blisters on my feet :(.

We plan on going back the first weekend of September because Bank of America offers free museum tickets to BoA card holders the first weekend of every month.

I had a great anniversary. We didn't want to do anything extravagant because we are planning on going away soon :)

Indian

My friends and I ate at Tandoori Chef in Hackensack, NJ after helping our guy friend shop for work clothes at the mall. Glad he wasn't picky ..I have no patience for people when they shop lol.
Naan?
Lamb vindaloo, paneer, and rice
Tandoori chicken!
My plate with garlic naan.

The food was so delicious! I usually don't like to eat lamb because I used to religiously watch the show lamb chops sing along lol.  The lamb vindaloo was SO GOOD. Very tender and sweet. I felt kinda guilty about it but oh well.  :)
